First Springers!!!

So the Daily News has reported that gillnetters in the Columbia River have already picked up 4 Spring Chinook. This is a good indicator of an early start to this years' run. I'll keep my eye on the Cowlitz fish counts and as soon as there is the first fish makes it back to the Barrier Dam, I will start fishing. Right now the Cowlitz is flowing at double it's rate for this time of the year. It usually runs about 10,000 c.f.s. and right now it is just under 20,000 c.f.s. If our weather would turn cold then I'm quite sure that the river levels would come down, but the 10 day forecast at this time is for more clear, sunny weather and unseasonably warm temps.
If we start getting fish in the river with the water levels being what they are now, I will be fishing at the mouth of the Toutle as opposed to fishing right here in front of my house.
Tip & I are about to go feed our critters, and then we will head to town. I need to stop at Woods' Logging and also at Home Depot.
